The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is the volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard.
We
are a force multiplier of trained volunteers devoted to the support of
Coast Guard missions and to provide a broad inventory of vital skills,
assets, and experience for our units across the nation.
Unlike other military commissions, there is no mandatory military obligation required, it is strictly a volunteer organization.
As
the leading organization in the Department of Homeland Security, we are
an essential component of daily operations and an effective resource
primed to prevent and respond to catastrophes or emergency situations
in a time of crisis.
Our Flotilla in North Orange County typically
meets the first Thursday of each month, it would be good for you to go
to one or two meetings to get a better understanding about what we do and to give you an idea of the quality of men and women we attract. Our
unit is a very closely knit group comprised of several OC firefighters,
Policemen, Doctors, a Lawyer, a CPA, a teacher and of course many
ex-veterans.
Why the USCGAUX?
The
Coast Guard Auxiliary ("Aux") provides you the opportunity to work and
train alongside the active/reserve Coast Guard members without the
full/part-time commitment. As a new member, you will be able to take
advantage of many benefits and training opportunities. Best of all -
its free!
You choose what you want to learn;
Search and rescue, environmental protection, aviation, boating safety,
public educational programs, port security and even assisting foreign
naval and maritime forces in training exercises.
You decide the amount of time you want to volunteer and when you want to be involved;
We have one (2 hr.) meeting a month. After that, give a couple of
hours, an evening, afternoon, or weekend ~ it is up to you. Look forward to seeing you soon.
